Arkansas Boys State Hall of Fame

    In 1998 The American Legion Boys State Commission, with the approval of The American Legion Department of Arkansas, established a Hall of Fame awards program, to honor and recognize the achievements and contributions made by former Arkansas Boys State Citizens and others who have bettered the State of Arkansas and the Nation. There are three (3) categories of selection into the Hall of Fame.

A. Former Arkansas Boys State citizens who have given their lives in the service of our country (effective 1999).
B. Selected individuals who have contributed greatly to Arkansas Boys State and the youth of Arkansas (effective 2000).
C. Former Arkansas Boys State citizens who have achieved excellence in their profession (effective 2001).

    After the year 2001 a selection will be made from all three categories yearly. All records of the awards and selections will be housed and displayed in the American Legion Department Headquarters Lobby.
    Selections will be made by a Selection Committee consisting of 9 members. Eight who will be voting members. The voting members will include the 5 Boys State Commissioners, the Coordinator, the American Legion Americanism Chairman and 1 member appointed by the Department Commander, with the approval of the Executive Committee. The non-voting member shall be the Department Adjutant. The 9 members will serve as long as they are serving in the above named positions. The Boys State Commission will select a chairman from the Boys State commissioners to over see and be in charge of the Hall of Fame.
    The Committee will make their selection by March 1st of each year that the Boys State program is held. Contact the Department Headquarters for the application for nominees into the Hall of Fame.
